Super 8 film was introduced to the market over 50 years ago as a cheap and accessible consumer friendly format for capturing home movies.  It was taken up by artists who explored the medium, and pushed its aesthetics for work that could not have been made otherwise.  Recently there has been a renewed interest in the format and Kodak and other companies are reintroducing new film.
